City green-lights Salt River market for mixed development

The City of Cape Town will rezone the Salt River Market. There has been much criticism of the slow pace and even shelving of affordable housing projects such as this one

Reclaim the City has also said that it will congratulate council once the work begins.

Kieno Kammies talks to the City of Cape Town Mayco Member for Urban Planning Grant Twigg.

Proposals for the mixed-use of the 720 units is in process.

The City is in the process of repackaging the request for proposals. These proposals need to give details of design and development and submit building plans.
