Katerina Human, Laetitia Nel and Peter van Zyl appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court has heard how two of the suspects implicated in the kidnapping of six-year-old Amy'Leigh de Jager confessed to the crime.

Three people were arrested after De Jager was snatched outside Laerskool Kollegepark earlier this month. She was later returned unharmed.

Tharina Human, Pieter Jacobus van Zyl and Laetitia Nel appeared in court on Thursday to apply for bail.

Eyewitness News reporter Kgomotso Modise was at the court proceedings.

The first person to take the stand is the investigating officer in the case. He has been detailing what happened and how he and his team went about investigating the case.

He has spoken about how two of those who are in the dock today had admitted to him that they were part of this kidnapping and have given different reasons. Laetitia Nel says that she was party to that. Katerina Human, who is a teacher at the school, was the true mastermind.

The investigating officer says that Katerina said that the only reason she did this was because she owed some money to Nigerians and that is why she decided to do this.
