Three people arrested in the six-year-old Amy' Leigh de Jager appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court on Friday for a bail application.
They were arrested after De Jager was snatched outside Laerskool Kollegepark earlier this month and was later returned unharmed.
Eyewitness News reporter Kgomotso Modise was at the court proceedings.
Yesterday, we heard from investigating officer Clayton Motloung who says there was a situation where he tracked these people down from a telephone conversation demanding R2m.— Kgomotso Modise, Reporter - EWN
The investigating officer said when Laetitia Nel and Tharina Human eventually confessed they had different reasons why they committed this crime, Modise explains.
He said that Human said that the only reason she did this was that she owed some money to Nigerians and that is why she decided to do this.— Kgomotso Modise, Reporter - EWN
She says Motloung revealed that the mastermind was Human. He told the judge that the kidnappers' initial plan was to kidnap Human and when that didn't work, they opted for De Jager.
