Eyewitness News reporter Nkosikhona Duma says the former mayor is mobilising ANC branches in eThekwini.

The African National Congress (ANC) KwaZulu-Natal is hosting its elective conference in eThekwini this week.

Former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede is hoping to make a comeback to the regional chairperson position she was removed from in June.

The ANC provincial executive committee said Guede performed poorly and that is why they removed her.

Eyewitness News reporter Nkosikhona Duma has more.

Zandile Gumede is mobilising branches of eThekwini behind her to re-elect her as the regional chairperson. She has partnered with other factional members here in Durban to take up the position.

Nkosikhona Duma, Reporter - Eyewitness News

She is very popular in Durban, however, her deployment to the provincial leadership is dependent on the provincial leadership of the ANC and they are the ones who removed her from being mayor.
