ACU gender grant will help advance black women academics at UJ
On Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, announced that an Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) gender grant had been awarded to three South African universities.
One of the institutions is the University of Johannesburg (UJ), which will see the grant go towards the newly conceptualised Research Leadership Programme.
UJ senior director of strategic initiatives and administration Dr Linda Mtwisa joined Joanne Joseph to share details on how the grant will benefit academics.
The programme seeks to transform the face and profile of the research leadership within South African universities, which has been predominantly white male.Dr Linda Mtwisa, Senior director of strategic initiatives and administration - UJ
