NHI will reform health system and provide equal quality care to all - Mkhize
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize in August released the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill that sets out to provide access to healthcare to all South Africans, regardless of their financial circumstances.

The NHI is a fundamental reform of the health system that allows equal access to quality healthcare for all South Africans irrespective of whether they are employed or have medical aid.

Mkhize explains that the NHI will have a fund to pay for South Africans' healthcare-related care.
The government has to correct a number of issues in order to build the NHI, he explains.
The administration process at public facilities needs to be fixed so that people don't wait a long time to get assisted by doctors, he adds.
