Sebokeng school stabbing: Suspect's dad believes it was an accident

The father of a 15-year-old boy accused of killing his classmate in Sebokeng says while he accepts the law must take its course, he believes it was an accident.

The teenager allegedly stabbed the other boy with a pair of scissors at the Thuto-Tiro Comprehensive School on Monday, in full view of other pupils.

Eyewitness News reporter Mia Lindeque has spoken to the father who explained that the boys were friends.

I managed to speak to the father and he says although he understands the sensitivity of the case and knows his son has to go through the legal implications, he describes this sad story of how the two of them were actually friends. Last weekend they were playing soccer together, they grew up in the same area...

Everybody is just so puzzled as to how it really happened and he was explaining to me that even some of the classmates who witnessed it say in their police statements that they were all just playing and all of a sudden they saw blood.

Mia Lindeque, Reporter - EWN

He stressed it more than once that it was just a mistake, just an accident. He honestly believes that it should not have happened.
