Official Comrades Marathon coach Lindsey Parry says technological advancements played a big role in Eliud Kipchoge's marathon record.
On Saturday the Kenyan long-distance runner made history by being the first to run a marathon in under two hours in Vienna with a record time of 1hr 59min 40.2sec.
Parry says the barrier being broken owed itself to the technology, the pacing, the route, the resurfacing of the road and more.
