Accredited life coaches and founders of The Resilience Factory, Gabi Lowe and Pippa Shaper, have co-authored a model on authentic resilience, seeking to change the lives of South Africans so they can thrive.
The two facilitate workshops, retreats and one-to-one coaching as part of the programme.
Towe and Shaper have both suffered loss through death and have sought to answer the question: "How do you cope"?
They share details on some of the work they do and how to build resilience.
There is a lot of evidence to show that Generation Z are not resilient, that they are not learning how to cope. Through our coaching we are seeing a massive trend toward lack of resilience and a huge sense of isolation and anxiety and that is a theme running through the youth.— Gabi Lowe, Co-founder - The Resilience Factory
We set ourselves up for suffering because of our expectations that there will be no loss and no disappointment whereas in actual fact everyday brings loss and disappointment, how do you cope with it? That's what matters.— Gabi Lowe, Co-founder - The Resilience Factory
I think we tend to often come to a place which is either denial of our emotions... we talk about that later in our model when we talk about renewal - the really important thing there is around self care but self care can quite quickly turn into numbing. We have to tread that line between where we are really caring for ourselves.— Pippa Shaper, Co-founder - The Resilience Factory
They share the 10 R's in their model. Some of these are:
- Reach in
- Robust revolutionary thinking
- Relentlessness of change
