Jarette Petzer chats to Joanne Joseph about the initiative and its plans.

A viral Facebook post by Jarette Petzer which turned into a movement called #ImStaying to honour South Africans of all races will soon become a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

The page has almost 730,000 members sharing unique South African stories.

Petzer chats to Joanne Joseph about the initiative and its plans.

We are moving into the NGO space and the objective there is to fulfil our mandate which was stipulated right at the beginning, which is to try and effect some positive change in South Africa.

Jarette Petzer, Founder - #ImStaying

We are in the process of formalising an NGO as we speak right now. There is a lot of moving pieces...

Jarette Petzer, Founder - #ImStaying

The organisation's focus will be to raise funds toward business initiatives.

We trying to create money, put into a fund that is transparent and visible for all to see and then to use those funds and allocate them towards different business initiatives.

Jarette Petzer, Founder - #ImStaying

The idea will be to focus on things like informal businesses, grassroots businesses, SMEs... We have got to make sure we bring all the right partners in. We want to aim to help create businesses so those businesses can employ people and hopefully start to contribute to the economy.
