While 50,000 more applications have been submitted to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) compared to last year, only 10% of the applicants have chosen to study at technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges from 2020.

We need to invest a lot more in guidance at school level and perhaps some other outreach programmes that government already has in place like through the NYDA [ National Youth Development Agency].Dr Randall Carolissen, Administrator, NSFAS
