In commemoration of breast cancer awareness month, SA Rooibos Council partnered with the popular lingerie brand Storm in A-G Cup, asking for donations of used Rooibos tea bags to create a bra from the collection of donations made almost entirely of Rooibos teabags.
SA Rooibos Council spokesperson Adele du Toit and The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) spokesperson Lucy Balona brought the bra along to the 702 studios to explain what the ultimate goal is.
This wonderful bra will be auctioned off at an exclusive event in a couple of week's time and we hoping to get a lot of proceeds from the sale because it is so unique.— Adele du Toit, Spokesperson - SA Rooibos Council
The proceeds will go to breast cancer awareness initiatives.— Adele du Toit, Spokesperson - SA Rooibos Council
It is a visual display, it is reminding women that your breasts are part of you, they are an important part. It was symbolism for women.— Lucy Balona, Spokesperson - CANSA
We have had a couple of people asking us and getting in touch with our Facebook pages: 'Where can I get screening and where do I get information?' For us the ultimate goal is the money that gets raised goes towards our health awareness campaigns and we talk about women's health, we don't just focus on breast cancer but cervical cancer too.— Lucy Balona, Spokesperson - CANSA
