Ithuba Holdings: It's business as usual

The High Court has declared the decision to award the lottery license to Ithuba Holdings invalid.

The court ruled that Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies’s decision to award the lottery licence to Ithuba be set aside, "provided that the operation of the order is suspended for a month".

However, the Trade and Industry department and Ithuba Holdings say the High Court had upheld the decision and ordered the department to rectify certain irregularities in the licence agreement.

Ithuba CEO, Charmaine Mabuza spoke to 702's John Robbie this morning to clarify the matter.

Mabuza insists that the license is indeed valid, operator is going ahead and there will be no disruption to their business.

Ithuba insists that there will be no interruption on the national lottery because of the court ruling, even after the order is no longer suspended.

We’ve got our prelim findings of the judgment and we’ve taken a position. We’ve been given an opportunity to resolve those issues. We are operating and have 31 days to sort things out.
