Forgood connects South Africans with causes ahead of 67 Minutes for Mandela Day

Mandela Day (18 July 2015) is around the corner and all citizens are encouraged to spends 67 minutes bettering South African communities.

But with so many needing communities in the country, people often have the intentions of volunteering their time towards a good cause but aren't always sure where to start or look.

For those that remain uncertain about how to contribute their time this year, they can log onto forgood.co.za to find a cause in their area and aligned to their interests.

We spoke to Andy Hadfield, CEO of forgood to learn more about the initiative.

Forgood is an online platform that connects those who want to help with organisations needing help.

We've built up a database of real-time needs of people in the social sector. So, when we connect people to causes, it’s more relevant and valuable to both parties – especially for Mandela Day coming up.

Andy Hadfield, CEO of forgood

The website allows you to do the following:

Volunteer your time - If you would like to spend some time helping out a Cause, making use of your skills and passion – you can browse existing needs.

Donate goods - Causes need all kinds of things. If you have something you can give away, you can browse Needs to explore their wish lists.

Create your own offer - Offer your time, skills or goods on your own terms. Pick the type of Cause you want to support, we’ll spread the word and interested causes will contact you.

Register a cause - If you represent an organisation that would like to benefit from donations, volunteers and the skills of our community - register your cause.

Get involved this year and visit the forgood website for more.
