Two primary school boys have received various donations such as school uniforms, stationery, backpacks, takkies, casual clothes and grocery vouchers after being turned away from their exams last week, for wearing the wrong pair of shoes.
The brothers, aged 10 and 12, were banned from writing exams for substituting their badly worn-out school shoes with takkies.
Their mother, Sharon Bill, spoke to Joanne Joseph on the Afternoon Drive.
I was not expecting this kindness. I was just expecting justice for my kids who were thrown out of school during exams.— Sharon Bill, Mother
The matter was taken up with the Department of Education, later allowing the boys to write their exams.
