African film festival aims to promote content creators on the continent

The Africa Rising International Film Festival is set to take place from the 27th to the 30th of November 2019 in Newtown Precinct in Johannesburg.

ARIFF began last year as a pre-event to the Global Festival Week in South Africa and Mandela 100 Festival.

The curator of the festival’s Pan African Legends Series, Lebone Maema and Ayanda Sithebe, who is the festival director, joined Joanne Joseph on the Afternoon Drive to talk about the significance of the festival.

I think the big thing for us is really creating a platform that is accessible to African content creators.

Ayanda Sithebe, Director - Africa Rising International Film Festival

It is a film festival intended to celebrate African excellence in a global context.
