'People were happy to relate their African stories to me,' says Zeinab Badawi

In the History of Africa series, Zeinab Badawi travels across the continent, examining the origins of humankind, human development and the origins of civilisation.

He joins Bongani Bingwa to chat about the series.

The aim of the series is to tell African stories, you are only able to speak on this series only if you are African it doesn't matter the colour of your skin.

Badawi says there is something powerful about going to different African countries and hearing people tell their stories.

What fascinated me is that people were happy to relate their African stories to me.

She says people need to understand that Africa has a rich history that needs to be spoken about.

The show airs on Saturday at 11 am and on Sunday at 11 pm on BBC World News channel 400, she says
