'In this area even after marathon of discussions, taxi violence has not stopped'

Five people have been killed, nine injured, including a policeman, in three separate incidents in an alleged dispute over taxi routes in Olievenhoutbosch on Monday.

To discuss these incidences Clement Manyathela on the Xolani Gwala Show chats to Gauteng Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure MEC Jacob Mamabolo.

Given that we had tried to work on what we have learnt from the political transition in our country that perhaps the best way to solve problems is through negotiations what happened is disappointing.

Jacob Mamabolo, MEC - Gauteng Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure

He says in other areas where negotiations happened between taxi associations, there was never a repeat of taxi violence.

In this area, even after a marathon of discussions, taxi violence has not stopped and we have reached a point where we have to draw a line in the sand.

Jacob Mamabolo, MEC - Gauteng Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure
