Talent strategist Anja van Beek explains why people want to leave their places of employment during this time of the year.

Statistician-General Risenga Maluleke in October announced the Quarterly Labour Force Survey, with the official unemployment rate has risen to 29.1%.

The highest in over 11 years.

RELATED: Statistician-General says 29.1% unemployment accounts for over 10 million people

On Tuesday Maluleke said South Africa's gross domestic product (GDP) has shrunk by 0.6% in the third quarter of 2019.

With the figures looking the way they are, is it the right time for employees not happy in their place of employment to quit their jobs?

RELATED:'All sectors contributed to SA's GDP decline by 0.6% in third quarter'

There are many reasons why people would want to quit their jobs, some leave because they want to study further, some leave to start a business while others leave to take care of a young child.

Africa Melane on the Eusebius McKaiser Show chats to talent strategist and leadership coach Anja van Beek to weigh in on the matter.

There has been lots of pressure on people in the work environment throughout the year, and it is normal for people to question whether there is something better out there. It is very important to reflect as to why you would like to quit your job.

Anja van Beek, Talent strategist and leadership coach

Those wishing to quit their jobs need to understand whether they have always wanted to quit or quitting is just a temporary thing, she says.
