Inaugural Gauteng SMME Summit focuses on access to markets

The inaugural Gauteng SMME Summit is in its second day.

The aim of the summit is to help local, small and medium-sized enterprises in the province to overcome barriers to market access and funding.

Clement Manyathela spoke to Letsholo Mojanaga, a team leader for the inclusive growth programme at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in South Africa.

He says the focus on access to the market may solve at least 50% of the problems surrounding funding.

We think our approach on focusing on access to markets will be able to help companies.

We are also involving big business. Yesterday we had big business here who came to provide opportunities and indicate to small businesses how they can actually take these opportunities, what is the criteria, what are the standards required.
