The designer shares his experiences in the fashion industry and some of his biggest achievements.

With a loan of just R8,000, Tshepo Mohlala has managed to start and sustain a successful business.

Mohlala has been producing custom-made jeans for the past dozen years and has used Facebook and Twitter as one of his marketing tools.

Mohlala speaks to Azania Mosaka about his successes and future plans.

He says one his highlight so far was making a pair of jeans for Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.

When we got to the studio everybody was organised and one of my accounts said: 'Tsheps Meghan has a baby, let's make something for little Archie'.

Tshepo Mohlala, Designer & Founder - Tshepo The Jeanmaker

We did it on the spot, we took an hour and before she got there the jean was ready.

Tshepo Mohlala, Designer & Founder - Tshepo The Jeanmaker

Mohlala explains how he has educated people in the process of making the jeans and the work they put in.

There is nothing as beautiful like to be in that space where you educate people and tell them why.

Tshepo Mohlala, Designer & Founder - Tshepo The Jeanmaker

We get our cotton from Zimbabwe and send it to Japan for weaving then we make the jeans. We take our customers on the process of making their perfect jeans.
