The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) says it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the manhandling of a woman by five of its officers.
A video showing the woman being dragged away from her car by TMPD officers and bundled up into their vehicle has gone viral.
According to various social media pages,the woman was afraid of being stopped by fake cops so she drove to the nearest petrol station and stopped there for the irate cops.

TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says statements have been taken down from four of the officers and that the matter is being attended to.
Currently the matter is receiving attention internally. Currently we obtained statements from the four officers and we are still awaiting the fifth one... from there the civil police will study the docket and pronounce a way forward.— Isaac Mahamba, Spokesperson - Tshwane Metro Police Department

While Mahamba has advised motorists to stop at the nearest petrol station if they feel unsafe, the cops claim the woman did not indicate that she was driving to the nearest station.
