Brewmaster Apiwe Nxusani-Mawela takes us through her beer-making journey
Brewmaster Apiwe Nxusani is one of the few woman brewmasters in South Africa.
Nxusani shares how she got into the world of beer after studying industrial microbiology.
I am a microbiologist. I got a bursary with SAB to actually do my honours and that's how I got into the beer world. It was never about the product per se, it was more the sciences around the production of the product.

Brewing Bold is one of the beers she has produced for SAB under her brewery called Brewsters Craft.
The Bold, I made for SAB as part of the women's month campaign that was running. It was conceptualised by four women. I was in charge of the actual product. The campaign was shot by a full women team.

She says the industry is slowly transforming.
One of the tasks I have given to myself is to be part of that change. At the brewery I employ mainly women. I want to make sure that after me there are many more women brewers.
