Motorists can expect delays on the M2 highway for most of the day due to a joint operation by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) and South African Police Service (SAPS).
JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar explains a roadblock has been set up to do essential safety and other checks.
There is a joint operation on the M2 West near Maritzburg Road off-ramp where the SAPS and JMPD are having a roadblock.— Wayne Minnaar, Spokesperson - JMPD
The focus is to check vehicles passing there should be roadworthy and also to do checks for stolen and hijacked vehicles and for trucks.— Wayne Minnaar, Spokesperson - JMPD
He appealed to motorists to be patient and asked for their co-operation.
