Energy expert Chris Yelland says the information coming out of Eskom is very thin on the ground as load shedding continues into the week.
Stage 2 load shedding is expected to continue into Friday morning as the system remains severely constrained.
Despite issuing regular updates on the blackouts, Yelland says the level of transparency on what is going on at the utility is very poor.
We don't really understand the depth of the issues, they certainly don't give out information at the power station level or even at the generating units level. So the level of transparency compared to the kind of information put out by other utilities around the world is very poor.— Chris Yelland, eEnergy expert
The only reason they can get away with this is, of course, because it is a monopoly and therefore it does not need to be very customer-focused.— Chris Yelland, Energy expert
