[LISTEN] Adriaan Basson in the dark regarding who is really running Eskom

News24 Editor, Adriaan Basson has penned an opinion piece on the increasing problems facing Eskom.

In the piece, Basson asks who is really running the utility following the resignation of Jabu Mabuza and adds that the businessman's exit is a signal that the management team of the utility is not in charge of Eskom.

Basson spoke to Joanne Joseph to elaborate on this.

He says the African National Congress (ANC) faction politics has yet again worsened the problems at Eskom and that the focus is no longer on fixing the utility.

The focus has unfortunately moved away from fixing Eskom and load shedding, away to the politics and the motives behind, for example, Jabu Mabuza's resignation and these growing calls for Pravin Gordhan to be fired.

Adriaan Basson, Editor - News24

I think we need to start looking much closer at the employees of Eskom this year. I think we need to start to understand the power dynamics inside that company - start looking at the HR department, the trade unions, the power they wage.
