'Paul Mashatile's attitude demonstrates that he is fundamentally indecent'

Eusebius McKaiser reflects on ANC treasurer-general Paul Mashatile's interview over Luthuli House December salaries.

Eusebius McKaiser asks if it is decent for employers to pay their staff members after payday?

This follows his interview with African National Congress treasurer-general Paul Mashatile on Monday, where the politician said Luthuli House was not contractually obliged to workers early in December.

The comments by Mashatile sparked a debate on social media about his attitude towards staff salaries.

McKaiser had this to say about Mashatile's response.

RELATED: It is not my problem that ANC employees were paid late - Paul Mashatile

The key question is not whether an employer has the legal entitlement to pay staff members on the 27th of December. The question is, is that the decent thing to do?

Eusebius McKaiser, Show host

Do you want an employer that tells you what the law of contract says or do you want an employer that does the right thing?

Eusebius McKaiser, Show host

I don't know why South Africans let politicians off the hook so easily. Do not let Luthuli House off the hook by saying the law of contract allows you to pay someone on the 27th.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show host

What we heard from Paul Mashatile, an entire ANC treasurer-general, was an answer and a tone and an attitude that demonstrate that this man, like his organisation, is fundamentally indecent.
