New movement will bring change - Maimane

Former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba says there will be a new political party in June this year which will contest next year's local government elections.

Mashaba on 702Breakfast said his new organisation called the People's Dialogue will target the 18 million voters who didn't vote.

Clement Manyathela on the Midday Report chats to activist Mmusi Maimane about his involvement in the new organisation.

It is important that we call it South African citizens under a movement for change. We are already recruiting South Africans from all parts of the country. To bring change is not going to take one individual, it will take a network of citizens.

Mmusi Maimane, Activist

South Africans need a movement that will hold public representatives accountable, he says.

Even if we contest for the elections, those elected are elected by the people. I am confident that this movement will bring a coalition of South Africans to bring change.
