South Africa's first black free diving instructor Zandile Ndhlovu says she has been working on attaining the title for the past seven months.
She started diving in June 2019 doing her course through the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) and recently graduated to be a PADI freediving instructor.
Speaking to Azania Mosaka, Ndhlovu explains how the journey of free diving has been for her.
The longest I can hold my breath is three-and-a-half minutes.— Zandile Ndhlovu, Free diving instructor
We also say in free diving that we always dive within our limits. Never dive outside of your limits.— Zandile Ndhlovu, Free diving instructor
Freediving is a form of underwater diving that relies on breath-holding until resurfacing rather than the use of breathing apparatus such as scuba gear.
