The National Union of Metalworkers (Numsa) and the South African Cabin Crew Association have filed papers at the Labour Court for an urgent interdict to stop the business rescue practitioners at South African Airways from retrenching workers.
Last week, the business rescue practitioners announced that eleven routes would be cancelled to save the airline.
General Secretary of Numsa Irvin Jim says the closure of these routes will affect about 3 000 workers.
