Ferndale High pupil passes away after falling from third floor

A pupil who fell from a balcony at Ferndale High has passed away.

Netcare 911 reported to the call at around 9:30am from the school and took the pupil to hospital.

Circumstances around the death of the pupil are still unknown.

MEC for Education in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi says this is the 11th since the start of the 2020 academic year.

Clement Manyathela earlier had spoken to NetCare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst about the incident.

Reports from the scene allege that a male minor had fallen from a third-floor balcony. The patient was treated at the scene and he has been taken to hospital for further treatment.
