'EFF MPs took oath to obey the rules, if they don't they know what will happen'

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Lechesa Tsenoli says it's all systems go as President Cyril Ramaphosa prepares to deliver his State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Thursday night.

Tsenoli says there will be no disruptions, saying the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) intentions are undemocratic.

It is undemocratic to make such statements as the EFF is making, there are elected members of Parliament who took an oath that they will obey the rules of the house. If they don't, they know what will happen to them.

Lechesa Tsenoli, National Assembly Deputy Speaker

We have scheduled a debate, they have an opportunity to debate their views about matters and that is where they should do that.

Lechesa Tsenoli, National Assembly Deputy Speaker

He has confirmed once again that former president Jacob Zuma will not be attending.

We invited every president as we normally do ... we have had an indication that he is not well and he will not be able to come.

Lechesa Tsenoli, National Assembly Deputy Speaker

Tsenoli says they have budgeted R2.1 million for the event but he suspects that less than that will be spent.
