'This is not a time for dreams, Ramaphosa needs to set up concrete action plans'
The Democratic Alliance (DA) interim leader John Steenhuisen says if one looks at the country, they would see that we live in a state that is incapable of solving the country's issues.
Steenhuisen speaks to Clement Manyathela outside Parliament ahead of President Cyril Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address (Sona).
We are surrounded by the incapable state. The government is doing things, but it is doing the wrong things. Instead of trying to breathe life into life-less SOEs corpses, we should be looking at fundamental reform and restructuring.John Steenhuisen, Interim leader - DA
This is not a time for dreams, Ramaphosa needs to set up concrete action plans about how to achieve those dreams, Steenhuisen explains.
If you want to create jobs, set out a clear plan about how you are going to attract investment to absorb the 10,4-million South Africans.John Steenhuisen, Interim leader - DA
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said that it plans to disrupt Sona if the Public Enterprise Minister Pravin Gordhan is not fired. Steenhuisen says the EFF have a plan and it will not be swayed from it.
It is the only trick that they have and they have got to play it. Unfortunately, it is going to get into the people's business. Sona is not the place to stage this type of protest.John Steenhuisen, Interim leader - DA
