EFF to face Parliament's powers and privileges committee over disruptions, again

Parliament has confirmed that it is officially moving forward in investigating the Economic Freedom Fighters.

The powers and privileges committee will be investigating the party for its disruption of the State of the Nation Address by President Cyril Ramaphosa last week Thursday.

The committee will look at the Hansard, minutes of the proceedings of the joint sitting as wee as the video recording of the proceedings.

Joanne Joseph speaks to Eyewitness News parliamentary correspondent Babalo Ndenze.

It is not clear when the matter will start and it is also not clear who will sit on that committee so this is just an official referral that has been published by Parliament that the matter is going ahead.

In 2014, it was the same committee that investigated the EFF's conduct. It was the first time that the powers and privileges committee had to deal with a matter that is referred to it, so this is the second time and it involves the same political party.
