The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) student representative council (SRC) has made a public call for more funding in order to clear some of the historic debt owed by students.
This follows an undisclosed amount of money pledged by former president Jacob Zuma's son Duduzane Zuma.
The SRC leaders say they have yet to meet Zuma before they can disclose the amount.
Responding to public comments that Zuma's contribution could be from state looting, UKZN SRC president Sifiso Simelane says it is not their place to investigate where the money comes from.
Duduzane is a businessman....so the question to us is not assisting us. The question is not fair and is unjust.— Sifiso Simelane, SRC President - UKZN
Alumnus and so forth, they should be contributing.— Sifiso Simelane, SRC President - UKZN
We are facing a crisis here.— Sifiso Simelane, SRC President - UKZN
