City of Johannesburg Transport MMC Nonhlanhla Makhuba says there has been progress in the war on potholes with 10,488 potholes fixed in parts of the city since February.
Makhuba says a target of 350 potholes per day was set since the start of the programme.
She says a deadline has been set for April where her department will set out to reach other regions.
Makhuba says while she would like to have some of the roads resurfaced, there is no budget.
The problem with potholes is going to be a continuous problem because the reason we have potholes is because some of our roads are old, so what needs to be done actually is not to patch a pothole but to actually reconstruct that particular road but due to financial constraints we are only able to reconstruct certain roads but not all...— Nonhlanhla Makhuba, Johannesburg MMC for Transport
I would love to rehabilitate all these roads that are in bad condition.— Nonhlanhla Makhuba, Johannesburg MMC for Transport
