Pick n Pay has will be opening all of its supermarkets and hypermarkets an hour earlier every Wednesday for elderly customers to shop.
The initiative will see stores open exclusively for customers over the age of 65 years from 7am to 8 am, starting this week.
Customers are urged to have with them a valid identity document to enter the store.
Pick n Pay retail executive for marketing John Bradshaw says with the coronavirus outbreak, the elderly are more vulnerable and the retailer wants to provide a safe time for them to shop.
There are lots of other needy and worthwhile groups that we need to work out ways to help as well but for now this is going to be customers that are over 65.— John Bradshaw, Retail executive of marketing - Pick n Pay
