Here's advice on how to declutter your home - and get your kids involved
With families staying indoors, healthy lifestyle expert David Katz says it's important to use this time to create a clean, organised space.
Here are his top tips:
- start small
You can't do the whole house at once. Preserve your energy and target smaller areas in your home (e.g. toy box and closet).
- make the tasks age-appropriate and manageable for your kids
Keep in mind your child's attention span and interests. Find something they can enjoy doing.
- give everything a home, give it away or sell it
Separate items according to what should be kept, donated and sold.
- make it fun
Turn tasks into games or time challenges. Introduce music and dancing or offer rewards for the work they accomplish.
By decluttering you can ease the flow of your house, the way you live and the energy between your family.David Katz, Healthy lifestyle expert
