COSATU: An uneasiness over unity

The Congress of South African Trade Unions Special National Congress has wrapped up in Midrand with a declaration being adopted after concerns about utterances on leadership.

EWN Reporter, Govan Whittles attended the congress and says that although there was a majority vote in favour of COSATU leadership, there is still a sense of uneasiness amongst leaders of unions around leadership and unity in COSATU.

One area to look at is the Eastern Cape – will prove to be a key site of struggle for COSATU. COSATU sent a task team to try and deal with these struggles.
