Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs deputy minister Parks Tau gives an update on the pandemic.

The Department of Health announced on Sunday that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 1,280.

This is an increase of 93 from the reported cases on Saturday.

The department also reported a second death in South Africa from coronavirus.

Khayelitsha has become the first township to confirm COVID-19 infection.

Bongani Bingwa chats to Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs deputy minister Parks Tau to give more insight on the matter.

The idea in the first instance is to create awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic and to continue mobilising communities to understand the need to comply to the requirements and the dangers that are presented by the virus.
