Duduza Clinic nurse tests positive for COVID-19, other nurses awaiting results

Mayor of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Phakamile Mbengashe says they have deployed two mobile clinics to the area.

City of Ekurhuleni has closed the Duduza Clinic indefinitely after a nurse tested positive for COVID-19.

The woman contracted the coronavirus after attending a church gathering in Bloemfontein last month.

Speaking to Joanne Joseph, mayor of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Phakamile Mbengashe says they are working on identifying the people the nurse might have come into to contact with during her shifts.

The nurse is under quarantine and under medical observation. The staff she has been working with has been sent home and have been told to self-isolate.

Those who had shown any mild symptoms of COVID-19 have been tested and we are waiting for the results.

We have deployed two mobile clinics to the area and nurses who were not working at the Duduza clinic until the clinic is opened.
