In its latest report, the CSIR has moved to assure consumers that water that comes out of our taps is of great quality. But, as a Senior Researcher in water quality and aquatic ecology at CSIR has told us, it is getting more expensive to treat the water coming from our (increasingly polluted) rivers and dams.
A large concern is that people always look at the state of our rivers and dams in general. And then, while the water from our taps at the end of the day comes from those rivers and dams, our treatment facilities, especially those in Gauteng and the metropolitan areas, treat that water to a very good standard.— Dr James Dabrowski, CSIR
But, while not a water treatment expert, Dr James Dabrowski has a strong message to convey - one we would ignore at our peril!
If we don't manage our water sustainably going into the future, it could become more and more challenging to ensure that we did do treat that water to reliable standards.— Dr James Dabrowski, CSIR
