Power utility Eskom released its annual results at their offfices in Megawatt Park, Johannesburg today. The announcement was released by Eskom Acting CEO Brian Molefe.
Molefe said that power utility managed to raise R50 billion of external funding. He also says independent power producers are now providing 1.8 gigawatt of electricity to the national grid.
With that said the financial results showed the parastatal made a profit, but still needs to borrow about R20 billion from the domestic market and international bonds. Stephen Grootes unpacks the report with EWN reporter Gia Nicolaides.
Meanwhile Stephen went on to explore another issue affecting our electricity flow, Load Limiting. Load limiting is when your smart meter warns you to cut on the amount of power used. He chats to City Powers Aubrey Machela who explains how the parastatal aims to effectively implement the load limiting system.
