Msizi Nkosi pens tell-all book on picking up the pieces after alcoholism

Television and radio producer Msizi Nkosi has written a riveting book about his person struggles with alcohol addiction.

I'm A Different Mess Than I Was Yesterday maps the journey of his humble childhood in KwaZulu-Natal to his fast-paced lifestyle in Johannesburg's entertainment world.

In his book, Nkosi chronicles various reckless incidents involving alcohol and other substances.

The first chapter opens with Nkosi lying in a coma in the ICU of a hospital and then traces back to the series of events that led him there.

After months of medical care, Nkosi was left with an imperceptible physical disability and typed his debut novel with just one finger.

Exposed to alcohol from as early as age five, Nkosi would get into trouble at high school for drinking, miss work (as TV producer of 3Talk) or go to work drunk.

I was serious alcoholic, I drank everyday. I've lost count of the number of black-outs I've had or the number of times I'd wake up in the morning , not knowing how I got home. My life was one big party.

Msizi Nkosi, author

For me, alcohol was me self-medicating. It was easy for me to stay drunk while going through so much burning pain.

Msizi Nkosi, author

Falling in love with alcohol is one of my biggest regrets.

An expert from Msizi Nkosi's book

The book reveals details about the many second-chances he blew, lines he crossed and desperate decisions he made.

I'm A Different Mess Than I Was Yesterday is a self-published book and has sold 4 000 copies since April.
