Uber adds vehicle colour to its App to keep clients safe

Following reports of criminals pretending to be Uber drivers and assaulting passengers, the taxi service company is taking measures to ensure the safety of its clients.

Alon Lits, general manager at Uber Sub-Saharan Africa says they'll be introducing a few changes to the Uber App.

We are going to be introducing vehicle colour to the Uber application making it easier to identify the type of vehicle coming to collect you.

He says they will be piloting an SOS button for the drivers in Gauteng for when they feel their security has been compromised. If the pilot system proves to be a success it will be rolled out to the entire driver base across the country.
