Last Friday clashes broke out between parents at the Davidsonville Primary School in Roodepoort after calls for the replacement of the principal at the school. The ongoing protest lead to the temporary closure of the school, by Gauteng Premier David Makhura.
Allegations have been that thsi clash is race related because the parents are of coloured origin and the principal is black. But according Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi, the parents maintain their anger has nothing to do with race but everything to do with what they consider to be corruption at the school.
I have met parents of that school 33 times in 11 months. It’s clear that matters of that school are not education related.— Panyaza Lesufi
