John has been receiving numerous amounts of complaints from listeners this morning about 'disappearing' cellphone data.
Listener, Byron called in to John's show saying he is having a problem with Vodacom data bundles, which are meant to last one a month, get depleted within 10 days of being purchased. He says this is problematic as it leads to increased phone bills. He finds the cost structure of the data bundles suspicious and is calling for transparency.
Many other listeners claim to be having the same problem with MTN and Vodacom data. It would also seem that complaining to the operators has yielded little result.
@702JohnRobbie @Vodacom and then when we reload, their data bundle prices are actually quite expensive... Even as a contract sub. Not ideal— Jason Von Berg (@JasonVonBerg) August 21, 2015
Listen to John's conversation with Byron below:
A week ago, Xolani spoke to Commissioner of the National Consumer Commission, Mr Ebrahim Mohamed about these cellphone data concerns from users, who assured listeners that he would look into it.
John will be following up with Mr Ebrahim Mohamed on Monday, to see what has been done about this.
