The owner of stolen F3 Reynard car, Mike Ward, was happy to have his rare Formula 3 Reynard car recovered.
The one-of-a-kind classic race car was stolen from Ward’s driveway in Parkview last month.
The Formula 5000 car, which looks similar to a Formula One car from the early 1980s, is worth more than R1 million; and is a sought-after collectors piece.
The owner of the vehicle hailed the police for their “fantastic work”.
“The person who stole it was reversing it out of his garage and that is how it was found, the people were found red-handed. This is pure police success.”
There was a R20,000 reward that was issued and Ward has decided to donate the money to the police.
“I’ve decided to donate the R20,000 to the police widows and orphans fund and put it to good use.”
