In a briefing today, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula clarified the lease of a Gupta owned jet for a government delegation.
EWN's Dineo Bendile speaks to Stephen about what the Defense Ministry said at the briefing.
Mapisa-Nqakula said air travel for President and Deputy President is the responsibility of the air force and not that of the Presidency.
The Defense minister also stated that there was "nothing untoward about the procurement of this plane". She mentioned a number of reasons for the hiring of the Gupta jet, including that the large number of the Deputy President's delegation and finding an aircraft that was more suitable - which ExecuJet was able to provide.
Says adds that ExecuJet was not obliged to disclose owner of that jet.
The Ministry also warned the media against conflating old Gupta issues with this particular issue.
