Road Traffic Management Corporation confirmed that 35 people, including children, were killed in a bus accident on the R408, between Butterworth and Willovale on Saturday morning when a bus plunged into a river.
And in other news, the Swaziland Solidarity Network also confirmed that 38 girls were killed and 20 were seriously injured in an accident while they were on their way to cut reeds for the annual Umhlanga reed dance.
CapeTalk’s Kieno Kammies spoke to Western Cape Traffic Chief, Kenny Africa and Dipuo Peters, Minister of Transport about road fatalities.
According to Africa, 14 people died in the Western Cape roads over the weekend.

The Minister says that investigations have revealed that some of the accidents were mostly caused by speeding and exhaustion.
She further said that her department met on Thursday to discuss some of determinations to resolve these problems.
